CUADRO CHOCUANO – Perfomance
CUADRO CHOCUANO
– Fusion Desenfrenada
The “Cuadro Chocuano” is a dance of European origin, brought to Colombia by the colonialists. It combines the rhythms of the mazurka, the polka, the contradanza and the jota. The Afro-American slaves imitated these social dances in their free time to taunt their masters. This fusion evolved into this folkloric dance from the Pacific region of Colombia.
The dances consist of new and lively steps, clapping, shouting, couple, and group dances, sometimes a love quarrel or conquest. It is a joking and joyful dance.
