5 days of the international theatre festival Sommerwerft are dedicated to the topic of trees and the urgent question of how the performing arts can make a contribution in the face of the climate catastrophe. Protagon e.V. has been working on this topic for the past 1 ½ years together with 7 partners from the EU as part of the Creative Europe project “TREES – raising environmental awareness through performing arts”. As a result of a research process involving local communities, climate activists and scientists alongside the artists, each of the partner theatre groups will present a newly developed performance at the Sommerwerft. Discussion rounds, films, workshops and a children’s programme on the topic of forests and climate protection form the supporting programme for this festival from 30.07 – 03.08.25
